How to Draw a Self-Portrait taught by Mary Esch

April 26 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Register Now - $48

Beginners get great pleasure drawing facial features and do it surprisingly well…it’s the nebulous spaces in between features that can be a challenge.

Pull up a mirror and say hello to the face you know best; your own! You’ll get to know that face even better as you learn how to draw it. In this class for beginner and Intermediate level drawers, you’ll learn the basics of proportion, shading, a few anatomical principles that all humans share and draw your own self-portrait under the excellent tutelage of artist Mary Esch.

Drawing Trees

Those darn trees- you love them but they can be overwhelming to draw. I will show how to break it down into steps so you really can draw a majestic elm or craggy oak. I will demonstrate three different  techniques for recording the complex shape, volume, and texture of  trucks, branches and leaves. You will have time to do several drawings in between each demonstration. We work outside; becoming one with those majestic beauties.  Supply list available upon request.

Collage: Bad is good

Sometimes being bad is good. Making a bad collage is great. Often we spend so much time trying to make beautiful art that we miss out on what’s amazing about the bad. This is workshop where we give our selves permission to make imperfect, cheap, ugly, and just down right distasteful collages, all for sake of breaking down barriers for your own creative processes. This is a safe place for even really good artists to be really bad. Also we are open to people who do not consider themselves artists.
